#The Proverbs 31 woman
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Contrary to what many think, man was given the mandate to lead the family, give direction – Yes he should provide, but so does the Proverbs 31 woman.
You are both responsible for your family.
The proverbs 31 woman not only knows her worth, grows her husband’s wealth and plans for what her family should have, but, she goes her way to seek for wool and flax.
This is a woman who finds covering for her family. She works willingly with her hands.
She is not the type of woman who depends on people or her husband entirely but she finds something to do.
By this, I do not mean the white collar jobs. I mean, a lady who can sell and work to fend for her family.
She is not a parasite, waiting for Mr. so and so, seduce him and in turn, get live a lavish life.
Am not talking about the gospel of glorifying women with a penchant of going after men who are already taken!
Am talking about the woman who sweats off to provide for her family.
She knows it’s the Lord God who blesses the work of her hands, not what the world says.
The only person who blesses the work of our hands is God, let’s not misuse the word bless.
Sponsors don’t bless! God does.
Look at the ancient women of the Bible. Lydia was one woman who helped spread the word of the Lord with Paul, but she was a trader, she worked.
Why can’t we work? Instead we want the short cuts! Find a rich man, let him sustain you!
If you in that cadre, change your ways my sister! Let God mold you!
A Proverbs 31 woman is a helper, she helps provide for her family, her husband and her children.
A homemaker and a home keeper is not only concerned with the spiritual welfare of her family.
She is concerned with the physical status too. Is her home safe?
Are her children safe?
Are their basic needs well catered for?
Is her husband well and fine?
She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
I have watched some pirate movies. Ever and anon, you will see those ships carrying goods from their raids – enough to sustain their whole communities for a while.
A virtuous woman is one who makes sure her family provisions are more than enough.
Look at the woman, her husband knows her too well and lets her manage all he has.
She is careful planner, that her husband lacks nothing of value, she clothes her family and works with her hands freely, making sure that her family is well clothed and brings in enough provisions for her family.
For her to bring in provisions comparable to the merchants of the ships, she must be prepared enough with either a large granary, a pantry or a store where she will keep her food.
I remember back in my home town, when it was the season where potatoes grew in plenty, my mam used to buy sacks and sacks!
We would take them in into the granary, spread them in a dark corner and cover them.
She told us that was the best way to store potatoes and they would serve us for a long period without rotting or sprouting.
True to her words, the potatoes would go for months! I guess no wonder am not a fun of potatoes as much!
I have eaten them all my life!
That aside, she was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.
Are you a wife who willingly works with your hands? Do you clothe your family? Do you bring in provisions for your family?
A Proverbs 31 woman does so and so should we as the modern women.
Marriage doesn’t need liberalization, marriage needs submission!
