THE POWER(s) OF A WOMAN – PART 4

  1. THE POWER OF PRAISE

There is something about praise. That ‘something’ is simply “power”. I love to praise and to worship my savior Jesus Christ! Not because the instruments always seem to be in perfect harmony (well, they should be), but because the power of praise and worship draws! It’s simply a power that pulls! It causes one to turn from everything else and pay close attention.

[bctt tweet=”There is something about praise. That ‘something’ is simply power.” username=”httpstwittercommarymwnglangen”]

There is power in praise.

Let’s look at the word of God.

John 12:32

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.

God loves to be praised. He dwells in the praises of His people. That means, His presence literally comes down and it’s tangible! He dwells therein. He stays. He unpacks and says “am home!” The Lord loves people who praise Him.

Exodus 15:20-21 says,

Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing.

When the Israelites were delivered from Egypt and from the Pharaoh’s army that kept pursing them up to the Red Sea, Miriam, Moses’s sister lead a celebration. She was accompanied by “all the women,” who danced, played the timbrels and sang songs of victory to YAHWEH!

How could they not? The Lord had delivered them from the jaws of death. From the enslavement of Pharaoh and the hard labor that was clearly out to obliterate the Israelites from the face of the earth.

They had to praise for the Lord fought for them!

In, 1st Samuel 18:6-7, It was after the victory over the Philistines, that David was welcomed by women singing, dancing, and playing the timbrels. They danced and sang songs of victory to the Lord for delivering them from Goliath and the boisterous Philistine army. Indeed, the Lord had to be praised.

In Judges 5, It was Deborah, the judge, wife to Lappidoth, who sang the song of victory when God subdued Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites. Of all the vessels, God used Jael, Heber’s wife to kill Sisera! It was a victorious moment!

Judges 11:34, recounts the story of Jephtahs daughter who welcomed his father dancing after God gave the Ammonites to the Israelites.

All these biblical studies show us in plain truth that praise has power. More so, there is power when a woman praises!

Now let’s think about marriage.

From the beginning of time, God made man and out of man, came the woman.

God breathed His life into him. Adam moved and lived with God’s breathe.

Without it, he was lifeless, soulless, spiritless and heartless!

God was his breathe!

[bctt tweet=”It’s only natural for any man to gravitate towards praise!” username=”httpstwittercommarymwnglangen”]

Until now, the word of the Lord is active and living- Hebrews 4:12. Sharper than a double edged sword. It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Only God’s word can change.

Praises makes God move towards us. Praises draw people towards you – your husband included. If God is drawn, and He breathed his life into him, then it’s only natural for any man to gravitate towards praise!

You praise out of a cheerful heart. A heart full of gratitude. It all begins there. No one can change your attitude save for your decision(s) and Christ! There will be a myriad of moments that could threaten your “praises”. Countless of times, will you have differing opinions in matters pertaining to day to day activities. Self and gratitude are never bedfellows.

Praises can only emanate from a heart soaked in the fountain of gratitude. A heart that counts it all joy – in all circumstances.

[bctt tweet=”Self and gratitude are never bedfellows.” username=”httpstwittercommarymwnglangen”]

You can either bicker about how your husband is not ideal, argue about trivial things, condescend the manner he goes around doing his work, or you can put on your leather jacket, strap up your boots, turn the speakers up, and get your praises on!

Trust me. A heart full of gratitude is medicine to an embittered heart.

Praise your husband and see his “masculine” walls tumble down.

Praise your husband and watch him get rid his little toys and trinkets that he clung on with his dear life.

Praise your husband and watch him fan your dreams and aspirations.

[bctt tweet=”A heart full of gratitude is medicine to an embittered heart.” username=”httpstwittercommarymwnglangen”]

Praise your husband and you will definitely see a glowing man!

UNLEASH YOUR POWER OF PRAISE!

  1. THE POWER TO SHIELD

Have you ever seen how a hen shields its chicks? It’s so lovely, pure, an unadulterated kind of love.

It’s so instinctive, and it would rather die than let you mess up its nest.

The power to shield is in us. We instinctively rush in to protect our loved ones from imminent danger. We might not peg all on our physical capabilities, but God has blessed us with wisdom to circumvent most some of the most treacherous paths – if you are attuned to Christ! He orders your paths – 1st Samuel 2:9

This reminds me of Rahab and Jael. Rahab was not only a woman, but she was a prostitute in Jericho. She hid Joshua’s spies and it’s amazing how God ordered her steps. Because of her right standing with God, God counted it as righteousness on her. She got married to one of the spies, Salmon, and bore Boaz who ended up marrying Ruth!

Because of her, Joshua’s spies were saved!

You might think that the husband is the only one to shield you in marriage, but in reality, you should shield him too!

We shield our husbands in two ways.

First, by being their “eyes” – through the eyes of the Lord, and secondly, by constantly praying for them.

You may ask me, how do I become my husbands “eyes?”

I do not mean that you should snoop through his phonebook, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and all other social media platforms. I mean this – You should be able to discern when the devil is threatening your marriage and address the issue with all wisdom!

[bctt tweet=”You should be able to discern when the devil is threatening your marriage and address the issue with all wisdom!” username=”httpstwittercommarymwnglangen”]

You don’t go like, “You are a liar, a cheat, you are such a flirt, who is that lady you keep chatting with?”

Probably there is, but your HOW – will be enough to make or break the situation.

Well, I do not advocate for wandering eyes in men, nor the cheating or flirting – but ladies, bickering never sorts our anything. There is a way you can address a situation, assertively and calmly and drive the point home.

But what do we do mostly? Let’s be real? We pull a cold shoulder thing hoping that it will break our husbands, put all sorts of conditions – you “shudda cudda wudda”, we throw tantrums, we shift our focus to our work and babies, some even go head to head with the all the ladies in the phonebook! – Newsflash! It will never work!

The power to shield sees through the lenses of Christ. It mirrors Christ. It comes to the level of grace with no attachments of legalism. It asks the “whys” calmly, wisely, gently. It knows that the power to shield doesn’t attack the husband but attacks the enemy.

If there is someone who seems to be all up on your husband face, opinion, business, why not bring it in as a story? Or just as a discussion – a fruitful discussion.

“Hunnie, what do you think about a flirting man or a flirting woman?”

“I feel a growing distance between us, is there any issue that you be having in our marriage that we haven’t talked about?”

These are just but a few ways to bring in discussions in your marriage.

Even if it’s just a hunch. Do not rant out. You can say, “Hunnie, I feel that you have really been secretive lately and you are quickly angered, I feel that there is something not right, are we okay really?”

Bring in an atmosphere of discussion in your marriage. You are the thermostat in your marriage! You can set the temperature!

Secondly, commit your husband in prayer. Always. Prayer will never be cliché! Its power can never be understated nor overstated. Its nor gnostic secret. Prayer is such a powerhouse! The bible says that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are might through God to the pulling down of strongholds!

Strongholds can be anything that threatens our marriage. Do not be ignorant of the devil’s wiles! Pull them down! Pin them down just like Jael did to the King of Sisera!

Pull down, uproot then plant! All on your knees! Shield your marriage! On your knees!

UNLEASH YOUR POWER! THE POWER TO SHIELD!
