In Marriage Matters, Our Journey, Reflections of My Soul

30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE: DAY 17 – FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM.

DAY 17: FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM

D.I.Y: Today, chose to make some time and have fellowship together. Put down the remote, the late night chats and instead, fellowship together, and pray together.

Go point: Share a Word together.

A family that prays together, stays together. It’s not just old fable, but a Biblical truth.

The Bible says in Matthew 18:19, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.”

When was the last time you two fellowshipped together, let alone praying together? I don’t mean the prayers we say before having a meal, I am referring to a deliberate time set apart for the two of you to share and encourage each other through the word.

Few spouses consistently implement the collaborative prayer design Jesus said. It is estimated that between 2% and 8% of Christian couples pray and fellowship together. That translates into an estimated 92% – 98% of Christian couples that don’t come together to pray. Are you in the said statistics?

Is it any wonder that so many marriages are struggling and very few couples experience God’s glory in their marriages? Isn’t it any wonder that we are losing the flavor of Christ, yet we are the salt of the earth and are called to illuminate the light of Christ in the world?

The minimum number of people that Christ uses to unleash His full glory on earth is two! This is powerful especially for married couples and should encourage us to fellowship and pray, not only as you, but the two of you.

You could say, “But my husband is the priest, he should lead in matters fellowship and prayer!” Of course he is the priest, but the same God gives us wisdom in how to handle different situations in our homes.

Your husbands weaknesses through fellowship are upheld by your strengths’, his short-sightedness by your wider depth and view of circumstances, and his little, no or weak faith is affirmed by your confidence in Christ. 1 Corinthians 7:14 says that the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

No matter where your husband is, on the continuum of prayerlessness to taking baby steps in matters of faith, I encourage you to move with determination.

You do not need a full hour. Begin with 10 minutes a day of fellowship and see how God will transform you, your husband, your family and marriage as you surrender to and acknowledge God’s sovereignty in your lives.

VERSE OF THE DAY: Matthew 18:19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus,

I thank you Lord for your Word that tells us that wherever two or three are gathered in your name, you are in their midst.

Lord, I pray for the grace to set apart time to share your Word with my husband and fellowship together. We need to grow deeper in you. We need to be soaked in your Word, for only you can fulfill our deepest needs and desires.

Lord, give my husband the desire to study your Word. Give me wisdom on how to introduce this concept to him. I pray that I will have favor with him and that he will desire you more than anything else.

In Jesus name I pray.

Amen
