UNWORRIED: FINAL THOUGHTS
‘Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ‘
If you are a perfect choleric like me, one of things we battle with everyday is control. We relish in it. As much as it has its strengths, the drawbacks too can be quite detrimental especially to our inner peace.
While fretting is not limited to a particular personality, I know those of us who like to “know it all”, quickly lose it when things seem not to get going their way.
I don’t know how I would do it without the ever constant help of Christ. I don’t know where I would run to when my shoulders feel bent low, crushing under the the weight of the world and its cares.
Worship does it for me.
Surrendering my life at the feet of Jesus has carried me though the darkest valleys of my life. Yielding to my saviors guide has not only given me comfort when the shadows of death scream right at my face, but He has been my rest. He was there, He is there and will be there.
See, David and his men returned from battle only to find the city of Ziklag ran down by the armies of Amalekites.
From victory to dead down defeat. From triumph to being down trodden. From grace to grass. How would you feel?
David was in anguish but the bible says that “David took comfort in the Eternal One, his True God.”
David found strength in the Lord his God.
He was great at worshiping the Lord. He wrote Psalms 18 after that ordeal. He offered a sacrifice of Praise to God. The most effective and powerful antidote for anxiety is thanksgiving and praise. BOW and Worship before him.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
It’s not easy entering His gates with thanksgiving and praise when all seems dark.
Its not easy entering His gates with thanksgiving and praise when the writings on the wall are blurred, dim, or unclear. But we should, we must.
It is the only cure to our anxieties, worries, fear and depression. Bow before Him.
Bow before Him.
Bring all of your cares to Him who loved you first! Lay them at His feet. Humble yourself before Him. Honor Him as God. He knows all. He can handle it all.
Bring Him your heartache, your children, your spouse, your finances, your day, your future, your life — all of your concerns. He knows what is best, and He works all things according to His wise and loving will. Cast all of your cares upon Him believing that He cares for you.
He is able. You are not. He is God. You are not!
Offload your angst.
Humbly hold each thought up to the Word of God. Take your worry, your anxiety, your fear, your unbelief, your anger — all of the sin that is weighing down your little water craft — and confess them to the Lord. Throw each and every one overboard, and let them fall to the bottom of the sea of His grace.
He can handle your marriage that is crushing.
He can handle your husband who is narcissist. He can handle your bitter and un-submissive wife. He can handle your failing business. He can turn all into a testimony of hope and glory
Worship the Lord.
Fix your eyes upon Him. Take your eyes off of yourself and off of your circumstances and set them securely upon your Lord. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and come into His courts with praise.
Thank Him from the bottom of your heart following the example of David the psalmist. Humbly acknowledge that you can’t see all things, but He can. Worship Him in the spirit of holiness, praising and thanking God because He knows what is best. He is all powerful. He is in control. He knows what He is doing.
No one can keep you off His hand. And He has you in the palm of that mighty hand. BE UNWORRIED!
