We had a fast month, then another one and another one. Parenting, ministry, careers, all seemed to spin us around so fast.
So we decided to have a little staycation with my husband and our first official vacation since the birth of our little girl. After a little research we found our way to Swara Acacia lodge. A beautiful rustic place nested at the heart of Athi river.
The place was simply breathtaking with a perfect ambience to rest off our heavy heads. The staff were very helpful right from the reception area. The room were so rustic, with a modern feel yet so silhouetted to nature.
Did i mention how our little girl had fun chasing butterflies, riding the bikes, coloring, and being swung on the hammock by her dad? My heart always skipped a bit when i saw it spinning in the air -but it was perfectly made for little girls and boys too.
Our game drive was amazing. The sunset took my breath away. Well our evenings were quite cosy too, having really intimate dinners, the cuddled up around the bonfire. It was truly amazing.
We got to temporarily forget the world and simply remind each other why we are in this together! Try a candlelit dinner and you will truly see!
How often do you wake up to the glorious melodies of the birds chirping? Oh we did! After a wonderful night, oh so wonderful! Oh so merry! ohhh.. -pun intended!
..And yes, they have a little cosy pool just enough to melt your stress your away..
It was not just the food, but the food, the bonfire, the whole experience.
We had a wonderful time! We got rejuvenated! Ready to face the rest of the year!
Your marriage needs that. It might not be a vacation, but a time out. A time out from the world, from the rut, from kids and simply look at each other. Remind each other why you love each other. Remind each other of your victories and forge a new front together again.
- Take 20 minutes to walk together before settling down for the evening.
- Put the kids to sleep and read a devotion or just a short movie together.
- Walk to the nearest local joint, sit and have some fries, coke, soda or a fruit salad together.
- Take bath together – when was the last time you really admired your spouse? It is very biblical!
- Send each other short messages throughout the whole day like – “I can’t wait to see you in the evening.”
Take a vacation. It might not be outside the house, but be intentional in making everyday memorable. You can still plan for a family vacation too. It won’t hurt!
