DAY 14: TEASE HIM
Have you seen funny memes going around social media jeering married couples? Seemingly alluding that marriage, is an anachronistic type of life that makes one look too old, quaint, weather beaten, jaded and worn out?
Somehow, the picture most couples portray falls not far away from the allegations. We put our best foot forward when dating, yet never do the same once married.
We settle down – like literally, and retreat to a subservient kind of life. We kill each others gusto, vision and drive, under the banner of “we got married.”
On the contrary, marriage should gear one towards being a better version of themselves, every day, and consequently encourage each other to pursue goals and purposes bigger than they once had.
As wives, we quit looking good for our husbands. We quit being playful and fun. We pull weaves that smell on them. We junk ourselves crazy. We stop carrying about our bodies. We quit smelling good and blame it on being a mother and taking care of the baby[ies].
We simply give ourselves excuses everyday why we cannot do better.
I do get all that. Motherhood is hard work, but remember that you have a marriage too. Motherhood doesn’t replace a marriage. It is a nourishing gift to an already flourishing garden.
This is the reason why Titus, in Titus 2, encouraged the young wives to love their husbands as well as sit under the godly counsel of older women who have the Spirit of God.
We get too serious with our husbands, yet they need our playful side too.
He tries tickling you, you push him aside. Some of you cannot even smile back when he tries smiling- after all, he should understand how tired you are.
We get tired, but occasional coaxing in the house eases a lot of tension and its good for both of you.
Run around in the house together, play hide-and-seek, peek a boo, jump on his back, dance on his lap! Laugh around, Be playful! It doesn’t need to be sexual in any way. Just reaching out to the little man in him that still needs his little girl around.
We need to remember that Loving, caring, romantic wives are trained not born.
VERSE OF THE DAY: Proverbs 17:22 A joyful heart is good medicine.
D.I.Y: Send him crazy faces and texts the whole day. Lovie dovie and mushy mushy texts would add some gist too! The goal is not just about SEX, it’s the connection.
Go point: Be playful with him!
Today I want to be a little girl to my husband. The girl who laughs and loves big. The girl who enjoys her husband’s company and is glad.
Help me not to get overly serious with him. Help me reach out to his playful side by being playful and fun too. Lord I do not want a normal marriage; I want a great marriage fueled by you Lord.
Give us ways of having fun with each other that will leave us both invigorated and fulfilled.
In Jesus name I pray.
