DAY 20: FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM
A family that prays together, sticks together. It’s not just saying but a Biblical truth.
The Bible says in Matthew 18:19, Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
I love my fellowship with my husband. Our fellowships have bonded us. Our weaknesses have been shared then. Our fears have been drowned then. We have strengthened each other and consequently prayed for each other over our fellowship.
Just yesterday, my husband reminded me of the Lord’s goodness.
Sometimes we forget, sometimes our hearts grow weary waiting on for something that we begin to falter, such are the crucial times for fellowships.
It’s sad that very few spouses consistently implement the collaborative prayer design Jesus advised. It is estimated that between 2% and 8% of Christian couples pray together.
That translates into an estimated 92 % – 98% of Christian couples that don’t come together to pray. Is it any wonder that few couples experience the riches of God’s glory and the full extent of his power in their lives?
There is a verse in the bible that is especially powerful for married couples, “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18: 19.
This passage is powerful for you and your spouse because the minimum amount of people required to move God’s hand through prayer is merely two.
Meaning, you are not required to gather any number of family members or friends to join you in prayer. The number is simply two, “If two of you shall agree.” Agree means to be in one accord, to go together,
Nothing is impossible for God. He is attentive to the prayer of a single faithful and righteous man; and so much more of two who agree.
Therefore, pray with your spouse. Pray fervently and persistently with faith and in alignment to the truth of God’s words. You will begin to see the miraculous hand of God working in your lives ; such as you never thought.
It’s in having fellowship together that your husband’s infirmity is upheld by your strength. It’s in having fellowship that your short-sightedness, is compensated by his wider view.
It’s in having fellowship with your spouse that his little faith is overpowered by your confidence in Christ.
It’s in fellowship that your weakness is compensated by his determination. It’s in fellowship that his limited outlook is compensated by your deeply rooted faith. It’s in fellowship that your disorientation is overpowered by his purposeful direction.
Notice that I have interchanged in between his weaknesses and your weaknesses since none of us, is perfect and complete.
Two wage war best – together.
When spouses come together in the name of Jesus, they are utilizing a magnificent and powerful instrument to support and encourage each other as they surrender to and acknowledge God’s sovereignty in their lives.
So tonight, as you celebrate your love, take time to simply fellowship with each other. Encourage each other and more so, encourage him with a word.
Most times, it’s all we need.
Most times, it’s all they need. The word that breathes life in them.
VERSE OF THE DAY : Matthew 18:19. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
D.I.Y: Tonight, chose to make some time and have fellowship together. Put down the remote, the late night chats and instead, fellowship, and pray together.
Go point: Share a WORD together.
Am at your throne this day Lord. I know you do here every prayer. We have not been faithful in encouraging one another through your word.
You have told me that your word is living and active, meaning that through every circumstance in our life, your word can actively guide us and restore us and bring us to a point of rest.
Help me begin this in my home. I am willing to take the bold step of faith and as I do, stir my husband’s fire for you. Let him yearn and pant for you as the deer pants for streams of water.
Be our guide and strength and teach us to walk in your ways and precepts.
In Jesus name I pray.
