30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE : DAY 27 – ADMIRE HIM

DAY 27: ADMIRE HIM

You think men don’t like to be admired? Trust me, they do.

My husband can blush! When I express my admiration to my husband, I always see him turn so coy it makes me go Aweeeeee. It’s cute to watch him turn pink – his smile tells me that he knows too well how genuinely I feel towards him and his pert butt [pun intended].

Seriously though!

I know you married him when he was slim, lean probably, then wait! You fed him so well and he added a few kilos, his waist thickened and he got a little (or a chunky belly). It life.

You too have had a share of adjustments too, more so after childbirth.Nothing is ever the same.

I don’t know if you have found peace too with your new self, and you should -embrace your new found marks. I love mine. They remind me of a beautiful story. A story of his glorious elevation. A story of wait and triumph, a story of victory beyond the finite minds of man.

So you got to admire your husband. He needs to know that you still find him charming and attractive even with his chunky butt. He doesn’t need to hear your comparisons or how disgusted you are by all his accumulated weight.

When was the last time you told him that you love his eyes?

Or how he smiles?

Or how his scent makes your feet melt into a pulp?

Or how strong his arms are?

Or how his gait is straight? Or how he steps in confidence and gusto?

Song of Solomon gives us beautiful picture of a wife admiring her husband. It’s a beautiful soliloquy that gets me gushing every time I read how beautiful a marriage love can be.

Song of Solomon 5:10-15

My dear lover glows with health—red-blooded, radiant! He’s one in a million. There’s no one quite like him!

My golden one, pure and untarnished, with raven black curls tumbling across his shoulders. His eyes are like doves, soft and bright, but deep-set, brimming with meaning, like wells of water.

His face is rugged, his beard smells like sage, His voice, his words, warm and reassuring. Fine muscles ripple beneath his skin, quiet and beautiful.

His torso is the work of a sculptor, hard and smooth as ivory. He stands tall, like a cedar, strong and deep-rooted, a rugged mountain of a man, aromatic with wood and stone.

When was the last time you admired his chiseled thighs or his drumsticks anyway?

When was the last time you told him that he looked so snacky? Well, if you think it’s disdainful then you haven’t experienced yet the love that a marriage can bring.

Marriage needs some cockiness, cut each other some slack and drop the seriousness!

If his weight bothers you, why not enroll both of you in the gym? Ask him to join you on a health check program for both of you.

Tell him that you find him so attractive and you how he would look drop dead gorgeous if he could get his chiseled abs back.

If he’s adamant, begin the program. Let him see how determined you are to keep yourself attractive for him too. Remember? Challenging him to be the best? Yes, use that. Challenge him to be the best. Let the drums roll for him.

Admire his mind, his brilliance in handling issues – even if you find somethings too obvious! Tell him that you find him creative and super imaginative.

The power of bringing the man from within lies in your mouth. How you use your mouth is purely your prerogative.

So get going. Pick up the phone and download all the words you can find to admire that man you have right there next to you. Admire him, it’s food for his masculine soul.

Remember to smack his butt before he leaves the house!

VERSE OF THE DAY: Song of Solomon 5:16 His words are kisses, his kisses words. Everything about him delights me, thrills me through and through. That’s my lover, that’s my man, dear Jerusalem sisters.

D.I.Y: Write down a card list of things you admire about your husband, form his physique to his mind and everything else you can think about. Text him that you admire all that and more

Go point: Be very expressive. Don’t mince your words towards him.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus,

I thank you for the gift of my marriage. I thank you, for you a God of Word and the Lord of seasons. I thank you for the different seasons that we have been through in our marriage. You have stood with us. You have protected us; you have sustained us.

Lord I pray that my desire will be for my husband. That I will find the right words that will speak admiration to him.

I pray that you will help me speak to his soul in ways unimaginable. I pray that I will be his comfort and my words will bind every ache in him.

Help us catch the little foxes that want and seek to destroy our vineyard, our marriage. Little foxes of being bitter, unappreciative, familiarity, discontentment, anger, and lack forgiveness in me.

I pray that my marriage will be filled with your fresh breath of grace as you chisel out every bit of pride in me.

In Jesus name,

Amen
