WILL YOU STRETCH YOUR HAND OUT?

On this day, I was so pissed at Johnny. Like super pissed. We had argued just like any other dating couple would. We spun each other off.

Of course we hit a whilte brick wall. No one was willing to relegate their hand stances to the other.

As we waited for a vehicle, Johnny reached out to my hand and said, “Even if we are mad at each other, this will remain- we can always being over and over from here, holding each other’s hands.”

But well, my pride! Yeeeks! Negative. I wouldn’t “stoop” that much. Holding his hand after such an argument?
“He will have to pay for his hurtful words.”
“Talk on Mr.I am not stretching out my arm. Never.” I got my internal monologue going on.

I pretended to spot a moving mat. But deep down, my pride wouldn’t let me be!

He did stretch out and held my hand such that i wouldn’t disentangle. He gripped me so tight, that I literally felt the anger sapping out of me.

By the time we were getting into the matatu, we sat together wondering how we could be so selfish.

See, God isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for a people who will progress with Him, in Him. He’s the perfector of whatever is already in motion.

I admit that I was a carrier. I could carry a lot a while back, and the burdens weighed my shoulders down and drooped me. Yet God didn’t make us to carry burdens. He made us to cast our burdens on Him. The burden of worry, bitterness, lack of forgiveness, malice, envy, and any entanglement that you and I could think of.

But aren’t we ever so adamant like i was? Thinking that we could sustain the fires we personally begin? Shelving Him only to reach out, and blow the dust off when in trouble?

Isn’t it the reason why we are so listless, unispired and unsavory to the world?

It’s alright to let Jesus hold your hand. He understands your struggles perfectly than you would personally. He knows how bent we are towards evil. That doesn’t surprise Him. He is the savior, we the clay.

Isaiah 64:8 says, But now, LORD, you are our father. We are the clay, and you are our potter. All of us are the work of your hand.

So lose the cloak of self absorption, self-righteousness and let Him squeeze you so tight, that He would take out what’s not His and bring out who He is through you.

Pruning isn’t easy but it’s necessary. It makes way for a great harvest, not just a good harvest.

Will you let Jesus hold your hand? After all, He’s got the whole world in His hands, what’s your hand to Him?

You can begin by stretching out your clasped hands to Him.

And again remember, in marriage, the best way to keep growing, and handle conflict, is to keep your engines on even if you are in different pages of the same book.

Hold each other’s hands even if you have had a minor conflict at the mall.
Take the walk you had a planned, even if the argument has drained you two that morning.

Visit the park if you had planned to. Don’t change your plans because of an argument. It’s a dangerous path to walk in.

It sets a bad precedence of handling conflict.

From our experience, as you keep going, emotions tend to subside and you can engage each other soberly.

Question is, who will be willing to be the change factor?
