30 DAYS CHALLENGE_PRAYING FOR MY HUSBAND : DAY 5

DAY 5: THAT HE WILL LEAD YOU SPIRITUALLY

Deuteronomy 8:3

He humbled you and allowed you to be hungry and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, so that He might make you understand [by personal experience] that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord .

Men must know that the Lord cares about their spiritual health, just as He cares about their physical health. He is the Lord God who sends out His Word and it heals all our infirmities and sicknesses _ Psalm 107:20, and at the same time, that Word norishes our inner man.

God understands the immense responsibility our husbands carry and that’s why He declares that we do not merely survive by what we consume, but by His Word.

Spiritual food is what keeps us alive, as much as our physical bodies require care.

For a husband to provide spiritual food for the family, he must know how spiritual tastes like. In the Words of David, he must reach a point in his spiritual journey and say, “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”_ Psalm 34:8.

A husband must have TASTED THE LORD and seen that HE IS GOOD ENOUGH to be consumed and ingested by them that he’s a steward to.

This means that a husband must go hard after God. Pursue him, need him, yearn for him, seek him, search him, pant for him, and not just stop right there, devour on His Word and quench his thirst in Him.

From that premise of loving the Lord, a husband will then be able to lead his wife and his children to the same pastures he grazes and lies on, and the quiet waters he drinks from.

His cup must be refilled everyday from the springs of Living waters. The Lord must be his daily bread.

Husbands have to take initiative in leading their families spiritually. That doesn’t mean that a wife or the children should negate or slow down in their personal spiritual growth. No. Spiritual growth is a very personal walk.

Headship of a man in marriage, is a primary responsibility, not the sole responsibility. That applies spiritually too. Being the primary responsibility means that he is answerable first to God, if his family goes awry.

Priests brought in the sacrifices at the altar on behalf of everyone. They interceded on behalf of the masses. They took instructions from God and conveyed them to the people. That is the same office our husbands occupy.

What you and I yearn for, are husbands who take that spiritual initiative in marriage.

You need to pray that your husband will understand how important his prayers are to God on behalf of your family. Isaac prayed for his wife and the Lord opened her womb_ Genesis 25:21. His prayers are that important.

If his faith is fledgling, pray that God will turn him around and cause him to have a yearning for Him.

Pray that he will not seek after the worldly satisfaction that’s only temporal and non fulfilling, but that he will belabor himself in the things of God and constantly stack up against God’s Word.

It’s not your job to bring a change to your husband, nor how he views matters of faith, but in faith, you can agree with God in all that concerns your husband. His spiritual growth included.

The Bible declares in 1st Peter 3, that a godly woman can sow the seeds of change in her unbelieving husband by HIS OBSERVATION how SHE ACTS.

Fellow wife, you don’t need to lecture your husband about his weak or stagnant faith in God, you don’t need to sermon him on his tempid stand, you don’t need to preach to him, you don’t need to keep the “preacher’s channel” on for hours to drive in your point.

You only need to ACT as Christ would towards your husband. In your actions, the Lord will not be maligned, and your husband will begin to desire that quintessential presence you ooze. The presence of God.

Pray that he will get a drive to take on the leadership role in gathering you and children for family devotions, family Bible time, train up your children in godliness, rebuke you in love if you step out the will of God, and oversee the spiritual growth of your family.

Pray that his spiritual walk will be strengthened and refuse to settle for anything less than what God has planned for your family.

Pray that he will have a Holy fervour for the things of God that will cause him to be undaunting in the spiritual mantle he carries over your family.

Prayer,

Heavenly Father, through your son Jesus Christ, I thank you for your servant, my husband. I call him your servant because he is Lord and will continue to be.

I thank you for my husband’s spiritual walk. I pray this day that he will not be tempid, nor will he turn cold. I pray that he will run hard after you Jesus.

I pray that you will stir in him your Holy fire. May he take his priestly role seriously. I pray that you will give him an over drive annointing to lead us into your courts with praise and thanksgiving.

I pray that he will take the initiative of being our spiritual covering.

Lord Jesus, work in him this day. Give me wisdom on how to help him on this matter.

Change him for your glory. Change him for your honor. Echo it all through him.May he be a vessel to be used of you.

May he point us to you Jesus and the penance you paid for us at Calvary.

In Jesus I pray, Amen.
