30 DAYS CHALLENGE_PRAYING FOR MY HUSBAND : DAY 25

DAY 25: THAT HE WILL BE DECISIVE

James 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

This type of a man reminds me of a song that stood out for me about a decade ago or more.

The theme song to one of the most hilarious family comedy show that aired then – Malcom in the Middle.
The lyrics: “Yes, no, maybe, I don’t know.” “Can you repeat the question?”

Have you ever come across a person who is more like the song? A yes, no, maybe type of person? A person who cannot stick to his or her decisions? A person with no stand?

They are unreliable, undependable, shaky, un-grounded, more like a reed. Easily bent, easily broken, easily led astray because they cannot stand by their word.

An indecisive man, without any other easier term, is double-minded. He cannot make a decision and stick to it!

It’s a stinking character, ranking out it’s bad odour on anything he wants to do. He is unstable in not just one, but ALL his ways.

Doublemindedness keeps you non committal.
You are neither here nor there. You stand up for anything, not your personal conviction. You are easily swayed by opinions, doctrines, ideologies, essentricities. You are easily bent, easily moved, easily overtaken, easily broken.

The seed that was sown when sin entered the perfect garden of Eden through one man, was that of double mindedness.

The devil knows that as long as your husband is sitting on the fence, grey, tepid, he has his strings attached to his ankles. He could demand anything from him anytime, and has the legal ground to.

He could demand that he lowers his guards down on his standards with regards to faithfulness, after all, he doesn’t have clear boundaries.

He could demand that he overworks himself into a burnout, even depression, after all, he cannot say, “that’s enough for now.”

He could demand that he takes on all the requests thrown at him, in the name of “being helpful”, after all, he cannot say, “No!”

He could demand an overt or subtle misuse of his stewardship in resources, after all, he cannot say, “I might not have it at this time.”

Such is the gravity of being a double minded person. A person who wills two things at the same time.
An indecisive man has heart that Jesus terms as, an unfaithful heart.

James 4:8 Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people].

A heart that wants to partake from the Lord’s table, but unwilling to strip down naked the worldly garments.

A heart that wants to hope in God, but easily buys itself into quick fixes.A heart that thirsts for Christ, but drowns itself in worldy pleasures.

A heart that wants to die to self, but dines at the table of hedonism.

We should pray that our husbands will not parade to the world a circus of pretense that they are sons of God, yet, we are never willing to walk on the narrow path.

We should pray that they will seek to purify their hearts.

We should pray that our husbands will die to their hedonistic desires and PUT ASIDE every weight and sin that easily entangles them and follow the Lord.

We should pray that their Yes will be Yes and their No will be No!_Matthew 5:37.

That they will purpose as Moses did and said, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Exodus 33:15

That they will decide as David did, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”Psalms 119:11

That they will decide as Job did, “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look at a young woman. “Job 31:1

That they will purpose blike Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:17‭-18

That they will do as Daniel did, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel 1:8

That they will say like Joshua did, “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

That they will do as Jesus taught, “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Matthew 5:29‭-‬30

… and trust Jesus to lead their decision making.

Prayer,
Heavenly Father in Jesus name, I thank you for my husband’s decisions. You gave him a free will to choose, and a heart that bubbles out desires.

I pray that he will put aside every sin and every weight that would remove him from the path of life.

May his DECISIONS be solid, strong and anchored, and more so, in you. I pray that he will not be tossed to and fro by others.

That he will make a decision and stick to it without the pressure to conform to the world.
I pray that he will be decisive in his thoughts, his ways, and in his actions.

I pray that his DECISIONS will be influenced by you, fueled by the desire to obey, please and honor your name.

I refuse the spirit of double mindedness in Jesus name.
I declare that he is a decisive man.

I declare that he’s not of the world. He will make a decision to honour you and live every day in it.

He will make a decision to love his family and abide by it. He will make a decision to be better everyday and stick to it.

He will make a decision to be faithful and trustworthy and loyal and strive for it.

I declare that he will not be influenced by the world, instead he will be the salt of the world and carry the flavour of CHRIST.

That those who interact with him will speak as it was said to Peter, “he has been with Christ.”
In Jesus name I pray, Amen
