In Marriage Matters

30 days of gratitude: Day 10- Encourage him

Honestly, I was never an encouragement to my husband earlier on in our marriage. I actually did like his job, only that i didn’t how involving it was. I always felt like it was pulling his attention away from our new found home.

I kept complaining about it, always sullen and pouting about his deployments as a result, my husband was a discouraged man who lacked motivation and oomph. I on the other hand was always annoyed and bitter. I lacked grace, I lacked joy, I ran low on my peace too. Unfortunately we think that if we discourage them or become spiteful, that somehow they will buy into our bidding. Truth is, it doesn’t work.

Do you know that the power of encouragement from a wife to the husband’s soul is more than a balm? He needs you to encourage him even if his way of thinking, how he reasons seems absurd or off to you. The power of encouragement is such a power house. Most men struggle with finding their identity, no wonder they cling onto “things” as they seem to give them more meaning into their masculinity.

A place where they can find peace, a place of encouragement.

However most of us never encourage our husbands. We are always picking that and pointing that!
So turn your heart today towards your husband and encourage his endeavors. Get down your pedestal of being so critical. He needs your encouragement more than anything else. You are your husbands crown – adorn him!

VERSE OF THE DAY: Proverbs 25:11, The right words at the right time is like precious gold set in silver.
DIY: Write him a text to encourage his heart.

Go point: Be gracious

Lord Jesus,
I know that my heart is prone to always find negativity among so many good things that my husband has done. I am not perfect, yet with him, I do expect perfection in everything. Forgive me for being so mean spirited. You have commanded me to love and be gracious to my husband. Help me to find ways to encourage him today and forever. Give me the right words that will touch his very core, season my mouth with words that build him and not tear him down.
In Jesus name I pray.
