One irreducible minimum I had when I seriously dropped every self will I had in dating and courtship, and surrendered, was that I was never going to compromise again on my salvation for a relationship. Never.

Any man who would approach me was struck upfront by this deep seated conviction in me. “I am totally born again!” Ofcourse, I “lost on chances”, but No! I gained!

Coming from a point of trying it all by my strength, salvaging on the peace that I had forfeited trying to adapt to what was around me, I was never going to let it happen again.

God is absolute Reality. Marriage is not. We are derivative. God is. God is the one ultimate absolute in existence. Everything else is from Him and through Him and for Him.

So I chose a man who challenged my walk with Christ in every way. I chose my husband. He loved the Lord like crazy and still does. I have seen him grow in Him. I have seen him pursue His Savior, blood and sweat, I have witnessed it.

We were not perfect. We had our shares of failures, but we were purposefully progressive, each day, pressing on the mark of our calling, and still are.

As I write this, the Holy Spirit continues to stir in me what I desperately need to know. I need a husband who loves the Lord. Not only today, but perpetually.

If you are reading this and aren’t married yet, do not be unequally yoked. Do not turn your love for marriage or a beautiful family into an idol. You have to choose a man who loves the Lord far much more than you, and one constantly pursues Him.

See, a man who beholds the Lord will ultimately radiate Him. A man who loves the Lord, will know how to love you. A man who enjoys the Lord’s presence, will learn how to delight in you.

A man who is taught of the Lord, will not struggle so much trying to understand and get you, because He’s progressively being taught by the one who understands our weaknesses [Hebrews 4:15-16], and bears our yoke [Matthew 11:28-29].

A man who pursues the Lord has a teachable heart, a heart permeable to instructions and predisposed to change for the better.

Even if he tries to aloof to your requests, the LORD will rebuke him on your behalf! You will not need to be nagging, overt at demanding, or manipulative to be heard.

Can you imagine such a reprieve?

That should be a cast on stone law for every single person.

If you get that RIGHT, then you will understand why you will seek to flee from every form of evil and anything else that would threaten your relationship to Christ, including a man.

If you are married, it’s important that we continuously travail before the Lord for the salvation of our husbands. I believe one the Biblical ways of wife, doing good to her husband and not harm, [Proverbs 31:12] is to remember that we are the ‘ezers’ in prayer too.

It doesn’t matter wherever he’s on the continuum of faithlessness to faithfulness, it doesn’t matter.

What matters is how we continuously present them before the Lord in prayer.
His love for the Lord should be irrevocable and irreversible. That should be our goal as we pray for them.

Husbands who love the Lord and are unswerving in loving Him.
We ought to pray that the Lord will penetrate every area of their lives. Their career, their businesses, their friendships, their passions, and most certainly their sexuality.

That the famous adage, “WHAT WOULD JESUS DO”, will just not be a wrist ornamentation, but cut deep into them. Seperating both the bone and the marrow.

We ought to pray that they will pursue the Lord with their lives, might, power and their possessions. That they will not only be church goers, but doers of the Word of the Lord [James 1:22].

Continuously approaching the throne of grace for teaching in righteousness, refill, instructions and rebuke. This will not only make them good husbands, but GODLY husbands, throughly equipped for EVERY GOOD WORK!

Heavenly father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I once again bring my husband to your throne.
As the head you ordained suitable for me, I pray that He will keep beholding you, OH you Lord, the marker of His heart.

May he know you.May he pursue you. May he be saturated by you.
I know Lord the beauty of such a relationship. I know that if you mold him, he will turn out to be the husband that my heart desires. A man who loves relentlessly, untainted by the voices of the world.

So today Lord, I pray for my husband’s heart. Capture it once again. Your Word says that you hold the king’s heart in your hand and at your command, you direct it. Today, I proclaim it over my husband’s life. Hold his heart.

May he love you far and beyond what any human can comprehend. Thank you for you are his first love, and you will remain as so. Take your throne in his heart. Make it your dwelling place.May he delight in you Jesus.

In Jesus name I pray.
