Most times, I wake up with a to do list. My day is scheduled, my month is scheduled, my time is scheduled. Am stretched out.

I know we are busy women and the current societal trends haven’t made it easier for us. We work on 8 hours straight shifts, 24/7 – 365 days. We have businesses to run, people to attend to, ministry to serve, babies to care for. Our schedules are basically full.

The rush to do it all, sadly puts so many husbands in an uncomfortable corner. He might not feel part of your already cramed up world. It’s the very truth at the basic level and, we cannot ignore it.

Most husbands feel as audiences in their own homes. After all, everything else takes precedence before them.

Well, I don’t mean that you and I should sit and wait for our husbands the whole day – I would though, if it were that easy and life had no demands, but it’s not.

You have to be deliberate in making him the first priority. We should be deliberate in making our husbands a priority. Yes, you have a bible study to lead, and he’s just arrived from travelling – my suggestion, make him FIRST your priority.

Please don’t tell him to sort himself out with anything in the fridge, like what some of us do! The Lord will still be waiting for you after your ministry at home is done.

You are still serving Christ in serving him and outpouring to him in love. Peter reminds us of that imperishable quality that no worldy beauty regimen of advice can stand against.

The Bible study can be lead in the meantime, by another person! Why not?

Take time and make him comfortable at home. Welcome your warrior home. When he’s comfortable, then you can embark on any other task.

Some of us are always running up and down with everything else that our helps begin filling in the gaps we leave behind. Picking up every crumble we drop off in a bid to create something bigger than what we already have.

They begin giving them the listening ear we cannot give, since we are too “busy.”

Caring for our husbands and making our homes a haven is a beautiful assignment from the Lord.

To abscond our mandate, is a dangerous pitfall for any marriage. We will be giving the enemy deliberate loopholes. He is after the trophy, destroying the God given blueprint of your home.

Some of us again, make our husbands complete with God. God is not a fellow man – but some of us make our husbands feel as if they should compete with God and Pastors in Church. We need wisdom.

Remember that your husband cannot be your Lord. The Lord has His throne. Your husband, has his place too. Please don’t conflate the two!

Honour your spiritual leaders, but remember that your home as it’s authority too.

If your husband cannot give a testimony of your servitude attitude at home, a woman full of the Spirit and grace of God, am afraid to say that you are no different from a noisy, clanging gong.

Clear up your schedule. The coffee dates for “catch up” with the girl squad can take the back seat for a while if he needs you home.

Some friendships are not worth it if they cannot understand “why the rush.”

Be hit by your “husband’s first priority plague”. He is code red! He is your first priority.

I sure have CODE RED! When the plague strikes, everything else STOPS!

Am sure you would want him to move mountains for you too, so why give yourself grudgingly in your marriage?

VERSE OF THE DAY: Colossians 2:23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

D.I.Y: Text him and tell him that he is your first priority. Clear your schedule off everything and attend to him first.

Go point: Be creative. Find ways of making his heart smile.

Lord Jesus,

I pray that this day you will enable me make my husband the first priority in my life. He comes first. Help me serve him with a zealous heart all the more than anything or anyone else.

Help me make him feel appreciated and that his space is his. Give me ways of attending to him that will help him not feel as if he’s in competition with anything or anyone else.

In Jesus name I pray.
