30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE: DAY 13: SEASON YOUR SPEECH TOWARDS HIM.
DAY 13: SEASON YOUR SPEECH TOWARDS HIM.
D.I.Y: Wake him in the morning with a kiss, encourage him before he leaves off for work. Be wary about being critical.
Go point: Talk to your husband with love, and grace – no need for haste.
Do you find yourself being so critical about your husband?
Nothing from him is ever good enough? He’s not smart enough, great enough, man enough, well-groomed enough – nothing is ever enough for you.
Today, the Lord calls us season our speech with grace towards our husbands. We will never be good enough. We will never be all so sufficient to warrant an award of greatness. We fall short every day, and so do our husbands.
The world demands of their sweat and souls and his home, you are his only haven, away from the harsh and depraved world. So when your mouth is always running amok, telling all and sundry how your husband is never good enough, are you really building or aren’t you the foolish woman in Proverbs 14:1, who tears down her house with her own two hands?
The Word of the Lord calls us to season our speech. Do not be clamorous. Meaning that your words, more so to your husband, should be concentrated with grace even when he has offended you. It also extends to “when” you should talk.
There is a time for everything. Wisdom calls for you to observe your husband and know how best it is to approach him.
Esther and Abigail are godly examples of grace in the midst of chaos and turmoil. Esther prepared a 3-day banquet before approaching her husband, Abigail waited until morning to address Nabal of the imminent death that lingered the previous day.
How many of us can be that seasoned with our speech? How many can shut their mouths for 3 days as you wait for the Lord to give you a strategy on how to talk and when to talk? How many can wait till morning when the anger is down and emotions have cooled off?
Let us season our mouths with good tidings. Home is where they belong. It calls for us to be deliberate and practice “a shut up” when we are so angry, instead wait on, just until we have enough words full of flavor – seasoned with salt of grace.
VERSE OF THE DAY: Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
My mouth needs a touch of your grace. That my words will be seasoned with your flavor of grace towards my husband. I know that my words can either build my home or destroy it, and the devil always tries to make me destroy.
Touch my mouth with coals from your throne, that I may know when and how to talk to my husband. Help me build him, encourage him, please him and grace him with words that only you can give me.
May our marriage thrive because of you. May I be my husband’s crown. May I beautify his life. May I be his home, his comfort and bring his heart lots of joy in all perplexities.
Grace me Lord with words of flavor – seasoned with the salt of grace.
In Jesus name I pray.
