It's remarkable, mysterious and glorious that great fools fit in together. Oh please, we are all fools in one way or another, but God has this recipe concocted in an unformidable force called "love."
A force that draws in the two, and uses it to us grow up!

The two really become one flesh_Genesis 2:24

Then over time, life really happens. Bodies become unruly, they refuse to part with everything else except gas! We have to work extra hard to maintain ourselves, watch what we eat, keep up with a healthy lifestyle, yada yada yada.

Then there's the marriage bed that sometimes feels like more or less like a solar eclipse. One minute, you are all zesty, a few minutes later, the world feels like a big giant ice ball.
You aren't abnormal. It's just part of life.
You have got to learn to laugh. If you don't, you will cry!

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Laugh at the changes time inflicts. Laugh at your foibles, laugh at your struggles. Laugh and laugh. Take time to laugh together.

Nothing haemorrhages a marriage faster than losing the ability to laugh with each other. So sit back and laugh out loud. Life is a moving breathing thing. We have to be willing to constantly evolve.

Perfection in marriage is a constant transformation, and transformation isn't always about taking the free way. It can be hard, dusty, rocky, winding, stomy and steep.

How you will both navigate matters. Grow and change in joy.💕

Grace makes our spouse surprisingly and blindingly beautiful to us, and grace keeps them that way for the rest of their lives.

Whether they look great in a bathing suit or great in a wheelchair, grace beautifies our spouses for us. It helps us grow more deeply in love even as age exerts its revenge on our appearance.

When our eyes are rightly fixed on our spouse, cultural definitions of beauty become almost irrelevant.

Grace unlocks, "how did we come to know each other" astonishment. Grace beautifies what it beholds.

Most of us start out marriage at a disadvantage. Thinking that we will just get it because "our love is unbreakable."
But with kids, careers, changing bodies, the initial romance changes from something we instinctively feel to something we instinctively fight for.

You have to prepare to 'lose' yourself to the other, for love demands vulnerability.

The kind of love that seals the escape hatch, so that we lose the freedom to withdraw or retaliate when things get tough. . .we retake lessons, we re-learn new things. . .we discard what doesn't work. . .

. . .then finally, the balance is struck. . .☺️
