Sex is just physical. I have heard that a thousand times. You might have been familiar too with the sentiments that if done “right”, sex can be emotionless, no strings attached physical acts of pleasure.

Infact, it’s become the predominant thinking among the singles and now, even among the married.

Hook up culture tells us that one can choose to be logical about sex and control our feelings if you choose to. Not just the pleasures and pangs of love but all the feelings that sex can spark: insecurities and fear, ambivalence, regret and confusion, happiness, transcendence, sadness and misery, loathing and awe.
Hooking up they claim, can be and should be emotionless.

If this is something you have thought or said before, well, many more are right there next to you.
Casual hookups or friends with benefits appear harmless on the surface.

Yet surprisingly it’s not true. It does sound nice on the surface, in a floating in a vacuum kind of way, but it’s all an endless pursuit, leading to misery upon misery. It’s a matter of fact a cul-de-sac.

Saying that we can have sex without emotions, is like saying that you can have SEX without bodies.
There’s no such thing as an emotion-free human state.

Sex isn’t just about a behavior. It’s there are a lot of phycological, biological, social and spiritual processes that do take place whether we want to believe it or not.
How we respond to sexuality, sexual advances, or our sexual desires is highly determined by how we feel about ourselves and how the environment has shaped us.

Unfortunately, the environment has shaped us inwardly, yet sex is cross shaped. A place where you give rather than take. A place where you surrender your self than indulge your self.

If you are just going to “hook up” for SEX then leave, then you should also remember that your life will lack the depth that comes with knowing someone. The void may not be felt at an instant, but it will not take long enough to feel the soreness of what has been unplucked.

God desires intimacy for us. He prides in it, and we should be careful to trade it in for a cheap pawned trophy of self gratification.

Now yells louder, but tomorrow lasts longer.
