DAY 3.
From the beginning of time, God created man and woman and gave them dominion over the world.
Unfortunately the archenemy of God, the devil, came and separated them from the Lord.
Christ in His all undying love came, and died for us to reconcile us back to the Father.
He willingly gave Himself to the humankind, as much as they did not accept Him.
He willingly died for our sins even though we did not deserve it.
He willingly sacrificed for all our sins, yet we were never going to be close to perfection.
He showed us love, love with no strings attached, love that was unconditional. He showed us Agape love.
Sadly, the bridal paradigm has changed.
Marriage is no longer about unity. It is more of convenience.
Marriage is no longer a union where the husband leads. It is a union where the husband dictates and the family follows.
It is ‘ruler-ship’ rather than a leadership.
It’s been enveloped by feminism, female emancipation and we are told, we are equal to men. That we should fight for our rights.
We no longer celebrate our uniqueness as women.
Of course we should never be doormats or have blind submission to anything, but we shouldn’t be rebellious either. Using all sorts of manipulation to get our husbands to bid to our calling.
Ephesians 5:25 says this;
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Husbands should sacrifice and lead their wives with all gentleness and godliness as Christ did.
Christ did not have followers because he coerced them. He did not force Himself on people, neither did he force His precepts and teachings.
He did as the Father would need him to do, teach, do God’s will, then left the rest for man to choose.
As wives we ought to submit to our husbands as unto the Lord!
The motivation is unto Christ.
Man falls short of the expectations we hold towards them, so that shouldn’t be a motivation.
How beautiful it is to submit to someone whose leadership is not authoritarian. It is very easy because the husband lives with the wife in understanding!
1 Peter 3:7,
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, with the wife as with a weaker vessel, rendering them honor, as also being joint-heirs of the grace of life; so as your prayers not to be cut off.
I.e. understanding who she is, what makes her unique, what makes her tick, what makes her happy, what annoys her most.
It’s not what the husband WANTS, but her needs.
A man’s leadership should not based on his physical strength, or his IQ. His leadership should be based on knowledge! Knowledge and wisdom from Christ, and knowledge of his wife.
A husband’s love to the wife should be AGAPE. Unconditional, and vice versa.
That he can gently bear with her, especially when she doesn’t get what seems so obvious to him.
Agape love goes beyond the SELF needs.
Our men need to be able to, and must be able to accept responsibilities for their actions without shifting blame to another.
They should have the strength to protect and shield their wives.
Agape love nourishes the wife.
Ephesians 5:28-29.
So ought husbands to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. For no one at any time hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Lord the assembly.
We need extraordinary men who know how to nourish and satisfy their women.
Not just physically, but just as he takes care of his body, eats the right diet, clothes it, sees himself as the “macho” man, so should he do the same to the wife!
He should love her as he loves himself.
Agape love from the Lord will teach your husband to care about you, ask you about your day, take time to listen to you (without the tablet, phone, remote or iPad on his lap), cuddle up on the couch, take you to your favorite places, watch one of your favorite movies with him – those things that he wouldn’t do alone.
Agape love is forgiving, and overlooks “small” mistakes, but corrects in love, not through neglect or being harsh.
The Lord can teach him to have a love so genuine to help without counting how many times he has done it.
To go beyond the “normal” and do all that makes you happy as a wife.
He should sacrifice his time, his resources, his love, only for you – praying for you even when you least deserve it, because he would be constantly asking himself, WHAT WOULD JESUS DO! Not what should I do?
Husbands must embrace their spiritual leadership over their wives.
So get praying that the man you meet, the man who will marry you, the man who is your husband, will love you just as Christ Loved the Church.
Withholding nothing but giving it all! That he will gently lead you as Christ leads the church.
Always wooing her, always reminding her of His promises, always saying “I love you.”
Lord Jesus. I know you know me. I am at your feet once again. Only in you do I find my peace and rest.
Lord you are my shield. You have me in the palm of your hands, you know my past, you know my future.
I pray for my husband. That he will lead me just as you lead him. Lord teach him how to deal with me.
Teach him to live in understanding with me.
Give him the desire to keep going and a ferocious desire to make me happy.
Lord hold his hand as we walk through this journey.
Jesus, the epitome of manhood and unconditional love, teach my husband how to love.
The world has defined love in so many shapes but I choose your word.
I choose your teaching. My husband is in your hands. Shape him to be a husband from your throne Jesus.
Gently and kind like you Jesus.
Lead him and teach him how to sacrifice just as you sacrificed for us.
Teach him to give freely as you gave everything freely unto us.
Teach my husband to love me, to sacrifice for me, to nourish me, and to dwell with me in understanding.
Teach my husband to go beyond and above for me, to cover me and protect me, above and beyond.
In the name of Jesus! Satan you have no power over my husband. You shall not cause strife and unnecessary tension in my house!
I speak life in my marriage.
I decree good health to us and to our marriage.
Lord I know that you will teach him.
As you teach him, teach me too to be a wife from your throne Lord Jesus.
I pray this in Jesus name! Amen.
