Day 5

That we will keep no record of wrongs in our marriage.

1st Corinthians 13:5
Love keeps no record of wrongs.
I will admit that our first year of marriage was hard. It was so hard that I questioned God many times if I heard Him correctly about the man who I should settle down with.
I know what you are thinking? You Mary? How? You both look “well put together. ”
I can tell you it’s taken the Lord, tonnes of death to self, deliberately deciding to fight for our marriage and most of all, forgiveness.
Marriage, is all about forgiveness.
It’s a daily walk of forgiveness, from the little things to the “big things!”
Holding onto an offense doesn’t make you any better.
Yes, he did you wrong or she did you wrong, but justifying your anger doesn’t make you any less selfish. Oh yes it doesn’t.
I will tell you why. You see, our God is just and He too gets angry, I know He does, but it doesn’t distort His character. He still deals with us with mercy and grace.
You will tell me that we are human, and are meant to be angry if transgressed against.
You will tell me that your anger is justified and warranted because your spouse hurt you.
It’s true, but the moment that anger leads you further and further away from your humanness, and relish when your spouse suffers, then it’s not worth it.
If anger makes you lose yourself to depression and anxiety, then it’s not worth holding onto it. Let it go.
Let the pain go.
Let the pain go and allow the Holy spirit to heal your heart.
Love keeps no record of wrongs, allow peace to reign in your marriage.
Lord Jesus,
We thank you for this day. We know that we get selfish when angered and easily hold onto offense.
Help us to forgive and extend grace to each other Lord.
Help us not to keep scorecards against each other.
Help us to resolve our issues quickly that we may enjoy our marriage.
Help us to see each other through your loving eyes Jesus.
