Before we begin dating, we have to develop a vision for what makes marriage worth having. Why do we even want to be married in the first place? It’s important for each of us to answer it for ourselves before we start to date, because in answering that, you get a template to revert back to once that imminent question lingers, “Is this marriage worth it?”

From my experience, marriage is worth it.Marriage is worth having because you get God in your lifelong commitment to one another. Not that you cannot while single, but the canvas is truly different. Laying down your life for another person, isn’t like a sunny walk in a tulip garden. Marriage is about knowing God, worshiping God, depending on God, displaying God, and being made like God.

God made man and woman in his image and joined them together, giving them unique responsibilities to care for one another in their broken but beautiful union. What makes marriage worth having is that you, your spouse, and those around you see more of God and His love by how you treat each other. That said, many of us need to be reminded that God’s perfect person for each of us isn’t all that perfect. Every person who marries is a sinner. Therefore, the search for a spouse isn’t a pursuit of perfection but a mutually flawed pursuit of Jesus. It is a faith-filled attempt to become like Him and to make him known to your spouse.

Regardless of the believer you marry, you will likely find out soon enough that you do not feel as “compatible” as you once did, but hopefully you will marvel more at God’s love for you in Jesus and the amazing privilege it is to live out that love together, especially in light of your differences and inadequacies. The best part with this is that, as you pursue a Christ Centered marriage, He pours in gifts and graces that only He can. He result is a marriage full of joy, peace, gentleness, self-control, life, righteousness, name it all.

Not that we will not experience the brokenness of the world, but that we will have the confidence to WALK and not RUN through the valley of the shadow of death!Thrive in Jesus! ❤️To the singles, choose wisely!
