Once an archer gets on the horse, his or her work will be to control the speed of the horse, but most importantly, lanch out the arrow with precision towards the intended target.

The target should be clearly visible, and the arrow, perfectly crafted. The archer must apply the proper tension on the bow, making constant adjustments against the wind and distance.

When the moment is right, he must properly release the arrow to fly.
Without those factors in consideration, then there will be no sport in the first place.

With the hyperbole of social media and a growing technology, its easy for our children to lose touch of themselves by trying to duplicate what the society depicts, or even duplicate a persons trait, based on what is popular.

Popular might not necessarily be right.

Everday, there is something left unfiltered for our children to consume on and the devil does wish that they do.

He would also wish that we do not craft our “arrows” right, or if we do, that they will be bent down, or crooked, or probably not “seasoned out” enough.
There’s a lot pressure on their little souls.

However, that shouldn’t cow us down.

2nd Timothy 1:7 declares this – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We do not traipse shoulders bent just because the world is spinning fast.

We do not bear the marks of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. This should etch deep down in our souls as we bring up our little ones.

Every second that we spend with our children should be purposeful. We should know that we are crafting arrows that will be lanched into this world.

Arrows that will lance out on their targets with the healing balm at their tip.
Arrows too that are are equally destructive, and venomous to the devil’s work.

Arrows that are not tempid, but glowing red hot with the fire of the Holy Spirit!

As parents, we must work to shape and form our children’s character and values. We cannot coast.

In the quest for precision, we must discipline them and make constant adjustments to our approach in response to our environment, their growth and various headwinds.

But unlike archery, in PARENTING, we only get one shot. Just one. Once a day passes without the necessary investment on our children, it’s gone.

We must remember that If we pull our parenting bow too tightly, our children might soar right past the target. However purposeful we were, they will not launch out right.

Pull too loosely, and they might fail to fly at all. A type of parenting that is laid back and non committal.

We need to lauch them to the correct target. Our most important job on earth as parents is to train up our children in the ways of the Lord. That is the target.

To pass on a living faith to our children.

Matthew 6:33 says, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Do you know that the root word “added” in the bible literally means magnetize?

The bible says that as we train up our children in the ways of the Lord, every other thing will magnetize itself on them. The best life, career, spouse, name them.

It doesn’t mean that they will be spared the suffering of this world, but that they will have learnt to lean on Christ through all perplexing situations. And how great it is to be lead by Him who knows the way.

Thankfully, God has provided everything we need in His Word.

We can parent with precision….
