So I have listened to the latest talk in town about certain DJ. A diatribe against the Gospel DJ. That he embarrassed his wife, on his latest update on their dating life.
Apparently he subjected her to a TEST that she happened to pass with flying colors, and am thinking – what’s embarrassing in that?
OhhhhhhhhHHH! That test. And why shouldn’t he?
Anyone who has dated and gotten married knows too well that it’s not a walk in the park.
A courtship that ultimately leads to marriage just doesn’t happen. It’s a series of events and mostly, it’s about confirming one thing after another through prayer, lots of prayer, asking, investigating, talking and yes tests!
Marriage is not a toe-dipping affair! It’s a covenant.
A covenant was and is a serious binding relationship that does not just dance around butterflies and kisses.
The Bible places a huge and grave amount of importance on marriage.
Look at Songs of Solomon, God had to dedicate a whole book, to show us how blissful marriage can be.
Let’s not get it twisted, when the author is God, He has the manual. The problem is when we depart from His precepts, fail to ask His counsel and wisdom, and let our selfish nature get into the way.
#Proverbs 14:4
[Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.]
From the above context, if you aren’t married, definitely you have less baggage to deal with.
Marriage has got it’s “poop”, but the strength of the “Oxen” ie marriage, far outweighs cleaning the poo out!
It’s a sacrifice and it costs a lot, no wonder many people do not want to pay the price of love.
Love has a price tag called SACRIFICE. If you aren’t ready to “lay down” your SELF for the other person, it’s alright.
It’s not a crime to be single, but do not equate marriage to being degraded.
So when DJ Mo says that his wife passed, I for sure congratulate him because many men only have one agenda, the bed!
In the olden days, a man fit to marry, had to prove himself by passing some certain “tests” in that community.
He had to kill a lion, skin it, probably carry the head home as proof of his masculinity, and a sign that he was ready to bear the responsibility of being THE HEAD.
So why not?
Now, since I don’t like talking without supporting myself with the word, let’s look at it.
•Genesis 24
Many years after the Binding of Isaac, Sarah, Abraham’s wife, died.
After taking care of her burial, Abraham went about finding a wife for his son Isaac, who was already 37 years old….The servant devised a test in order to find the right wife for Isaac.
•Vs 12-14
Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.
See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.
May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac.
By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”
Wasn’t that a test? Yes it was!
Issac found the right wife through a test.
That the woman who would fetch some water for his camels would be the wife! And guess what, Rebecca passed that test!
Now, why do we feel that it’s embarrassing? Especially the ladies? That it’s demeaning?
I say, test the motive behind her smile. See beyond her struts and ask yourself, would she still love me if I wasn’t a bank manager? Would she still love me without my status?
Would she still take care of the little i have?
Luke 16:10
Whoever is faithful with little is also faithful with much, and the one who is dishonest with little is also dishonest with much.
The Bible says this in Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.” The idea of finding a wife is pretty straightforward.
Finding means seeking, discovering, and locating.
The application is that a man gets a wife by looking for one. Conversely, you don’t find what you don’t look for.
It will involve prayer, prayer, observing her, asking around, checking her Facebook updates, Instagram pictures, prayer again, going to her local church, seeing how she interacts with others.
Prayer again, asking the Lord to reveal anything that she might have hidden that you know nothing about, and if the Lord gives you strategies to use, you use them!
I remember the first time we broke up with my husband – during our courtship, i had prayed and felt that there were a few things he was holding out for sure.
I couldn’t continue with the relationship. God impressed in me to let him be first.
So while in that state, he too had to seek the Lord, and ask Him, “Is Mary the right lady for me?”
Of course God answers in many forms, for me, it came as a message he wrote me two weeks after the breakup. For him, you might think it can’t happen, but it was a clear vision, in bold, and so we made up, and God has been moving us from strength to strength.
Miss, am sure you would also like to know if he is genuine, so go ahead and ask the Lord to help you test his motive(s).
Will he still love you if your stomach sags? Or your face is deformed?
Go ahead and test every spirit.
If the Lord give you strategies and means, use them.
Ask the Lord to give you ways of finding out the hidden and the unknown.
Ask the Lord to ripple the waters.
For if it’s love, it will not get tired of giving and building.
So, test! Why NOT?

God is the author of marriage and Jesus is the head..Prov 18:22-He who finds a wife finds a good thing and receives favour from God..Jesus love for His congregation of disciples sets a perfect example for husbands.Jesus loved them to the end though they were imperfect(John 13:2;15:13) thus husbands are urged to keep on loving their wives and not to be bitterly with them.Col 3:19.) Peter offers directions for both husbands and wives so that the Grace of God may abound in their family..1Peter 3:1-7..
