There is a way I make my tea and there is a way Johnny makes his tea.
He loves his tea brewed. Yes, brewed! He will always taste a cup of tea and say, “This isn’t brewed tea!”
I on the other hand, gladly gulp mine, very fast. Trust me, my tongue’s taste buds cannot differentiate anything!
I can confidently say I am still a rookie, but am learning!
Oh yes!
Marriage works right!
It’s just but tea you Say-I say, but for a long time He wanted me to learn his way but I seemed to always take it lightly – (I do take him seriously, but for his tea, I guess I just ASSUMED which was not very wise of me. Plus, am an expert in my own way! – I thought so)
Mix milk and water together in the same metal pot, bring it to boil, strain some tea leaves and vualaaaa! Tea!
So one day when I was in the kitchen, he said, “Bae, why do you always assume my tea lessons? ”
“Don’t you think it’s good to learn? Plus, it will do me good to have my tea made well.”
It hit me flat!
And I thought to myself “assume?”
He said “yes!” “You ready assume that lesson hunnie and it’s wrong of you!”
We got to discuss my “assumptions” and I was as guilty as charged.
The Bible says in Isaiah 48:17
This is what the LORD says–your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.
So many times, our past experiences hinder us from being led by God.
We follow what is comfortable for us. We are okay just being “good” yet God wants to teach us what will profit us now and for the days to come.
Our friends, and social media muzzle up the voice of God.
His silent voice cannot be heard when everyone is applauding you.
When everyone else is not addressing your deficiencies and all they are shouting is, “You are the one! ” “Hurray! ”
But you see God is teaching us something totally different from our own understanding. He says, “I am the Lord God who teaches you…”
He teaches us what will profit us. He speaks His truth to us, but most of the time, we never listen.
We brush it all off just like I did to my husband.
His truth, will profit us.
His WILL, will profit us.
His ways, will profit us.
His ordinances, will perfect us.
But we never seem to see. Or we do see, but rely so much on our own understanding and are wise in our own eyes. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
We have to humble ourselves and realize that someone else knows a better way. Jesus is the way! Jesus knows what is best.
Accept to be taught by the Lord.
Humble yourself to learn and inquire of the Lord for His precepts are right giving joy to the heart (Psalms19:8).
His commands are radiant, giving light to the eyes. His word is pure and it is life. (Proverbs 30:5)
Are you like me then or will you accept to have a teachable spirit?
Teach me your ways.
When doubts and fears arise,
Teach me your way
When storms overspread the skies,
Teach me your way.
Shine through the cloud and rain,
Through sorrow, toil, and pain;
Make my pathway plain,
Teach me your way.
