UNWORRIED: DAY 4 – JUST CRY, IT’S OKAY. CHRIST WEPT.

DAY 4: ITS OKAY TO CRY – JESUS WEPT.

One of things I told my husband when we were dating is that I cry a lot. He never got to see it in full explosion until we had our first major argument.

I cry. Movies make me cry, good news make me cry. Babies make me cry, seeing a happy couple makes me cry. A betrayal shutters me into a zillion tears. A pat on the back makes my eyes teary. I guess God just took a ton of tears and filled me up.

So having very teary eyes made me susceptible to critics who thought am a “cry baby”. Some did not shy away from telling me straight on. After all, big girls don’t cry. But isn’t it the biggest lie from the enemy? Isn’t that the reason why we have so many unhealed souls walking among us with, masking their bleeding hearts, battling with worry and depression?

Look at our men too. They have conquered the biggest obstacles, scaled up the mountains, made great careers, stuck multi-dollar billion deals but have been unable to conquer one basic human need-not a want, not an anomaly, a need – to cry.

So the corrupt crusade has been extended to “big girls” too. Big girls do not cry!

Oh yes we do and we have to.

It’s not a confusion that God had on the 6th day when he made a man and a woman and created tear glands on them. He made them purposefully -not for constraining tears or holding them back, but to let our tears flow our freely. Crying is okay.

The Bible says in John 11:35, that when Lazarus died, “Jesus wept”.  It is the shortest, yet arguably the most powerful Scripture when it comes to Christ modeling the vulnerability of tears and its strength in a natural response to raw emotions felt.

He felt those raw emotions of his friend’s death. He wept.

Yet Christ did cry knowing He would soon raise His friend Lazarus from the grave. Still, His gut reaction was necessary to heal.

Crying is okay and it is a very important part of the process towards healing of the mind and of the soul. It’s not a wonder that so many men go into depression simply because they have no outlet.

Un-grieved losses are unhealed wounds that eventually get infected with worry, depression, anxiety, and fear. Christ let Himself cry and mourn.

He did this not to confuse us. He did this to model for us a process towards healing. He did this to show us that it’s alright to feel hurt and pained, and it’s alright to cry it out. As you cry, you are healing, you are letting your soul go of the worries and anxieties that burden you.

He did this to let us know that crying is perfectly normal. No trust to babies, but to the big girls and to the men too.

You don’t need to prove yourself to anyone. God created you to to feel everything so deeply.

It’s alright to cry – he is close to the brokenhearted.
